New Composition!

Greetings, all. I hope the transition from spring to summer is finding you well. I recently completed a new work, a string quartet (my first!) in four movements entitled “Vivirhythms.” I’ve posted a realization of the first movement in the “Listen” section of this page, I may add another one at some point in the future depending on how committed I feel to creating a mock-up in Reaper. While COVID-19 is still having an impact on the viability of ensembles meeting, I would be happy to send a copy to any string quartets out there looking for repertoire.

Keeping Busy!

Hello all! I hope that you’ve been staying safe, healthy, and sane. Since completing and defending my doctoral dissertation, I’ve been trying to stay busy and (somewhat) productive. I was recently afforded the opportunity recently to provide some background music for a four-part video series put out by the Martin Van Buren National Historic Site in honor of National Poetry Month. The fourth part comes out tomorrow (April 23), all of the videos can be found on the Martin Van Buren National Historic Site’s Facebook page.

I’ve also been taking some time to go through old compositions and gather sound files I’ve accumulated. I’ve begun to set up a new “Listen” section of my website, which I think is easier and more streamlined than my SoundCloud page. If you’re interested and looking for something to listen to, feel free to check out what I’ve posted. The plan is that as time goes on I will continue to add some more tracks to these playlists.

Have a great rest of the week, and be well!

What a month this has been…

Well, I don’t need to tell anyone else how weird the last few weeks have been. I did not think I would be spending the first day of April (coincidentally three years to the day since I first met my wonderful wife) searching in vain for toilet paper… nonetheless, I have been keeping busy. I recently completed a short composing job, about which I will hopefully be posting more shortly. I have also completed my doctoral lecture recital, available here in socially-distanced video format! I am very excited that this puts me one step closer to completing my Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Composition.

Once my doctoral work is completed, I am hoping to get back to work on a string quartet based off of some material I’ve had knocking around for a bit. Until then, stay safe and healthy everyone!
